Sabotage X DC

August 31,2021

DC Shoes is teaming up with Philadelphia-based Sabotage Productions for a nostalgic collection that celebrates Love Park and the Philly skate scene—from past to present. To accompany the limited release, DC produced NO LOVE LOST, a short documentary highlighting the Sabotage crew and their role in bringing back some of the most sought after DC Heritage styles. To further support the collection, Sabotage will be dropping SABOTAGE X DC, a full skate edit featuring Brian Panebianco, Josh Kalis, Jahmir Brown, John Shanahan, Kevin Bilyeu, and more.

Since 2008, Sabotage has been pumping out raw skate edits reminiscent of the early days of Love Park. These edits included some of the best East Coast skating on offer, with many of the skaters actually wearing vintage DC models, like the iconic Lynx OG. The shoe, originally released in 1999, was no longer in production at that point, but the Sabotage crew were buying them on eBay and skating them all over Philly on a daily basis, just like Kalis had been doing a decade earlier. Sabotage’s Brian Panebianco explained their affinity for the shoe: “When you watch all those old videos and all that old Love footage, everyone is wearing Lynx.”

Josh Kalis, who filmed some of his most memorable video parts in the Lynx at Love Park, credits Sabotage for resurrecting DC’s Heritage styles: “It was Sabotage that really brought the attention back to DC. Like hey, we need this, skateboarding needs this, Philadelphia needs this. All these people want it and they’re buying it from eBay. It just goes back to authenticity.” So, when DC saw the love and demand for these Heritage styles, they worked directly with Sabotage to bring them back in full force. And to make sure they were exactly like the originals, they sent samples to the Sabotage crew to fine-tune the designs.

And in 2021, this uniquely Philly story is coming full circle with the DC X Sabotage Collection available in select skate shops on September 4, 2021—featuring a Heritage-inspired Lynx OG with a first-ever tongue stash pocket and custom beanie. See full global shop list below to see where you can find them. The documentary and the skate edit are now available.
